Very few of us are in real terms happy and at peace of mind with what we are doing in our day to day life.
The primary reason for this precarious situation is we are really not aware where our joy lies or we donot know what we enjoy doing. The purpose of our being on the planet Earth is not clear to us.
While this may sound like being very hypothetical or not close to being true it is true.
There is a proverb “Successful people may not be Happy, but Happy people are always successful”.
The method of finding this purpose of life is the purpose of this post.
You need to answer four simple question without bias and of course without fooling your self
- What you are good at ?
- What you Love to do ?
- Does the world need it ?
- Can you be paid for it ?
Once you answer these 4 question it will be very easy to find out the purpose of your being here.

If you discover Passion and Mission you have a delightful and life of fullness but wealth is missing
If you discover the Mission and Vocation you have a sense of uncertainty along with excitement and complacency.
If you discover vocation and profession you have a feeling of emptiness with comfort.
If you discover Profession and Passion you have satisfaction but a feeling of uselessness.

This entire process of finding the purpose of your existence, the reason why you wakeup every morning in various modification is found in different names like Logo Therapy, Morita Therapy they all directly indirectly have the same objective of finding a purpose of Life or a reason to live.
Although both the above mentioned therapies along with Ikigai are more contemporary but ancient Indian scriptures also define the goal of human life or the purpose of being here as the Four Purusharths which have been spoken about in early Vedic literatures.
Once you have found the purpose of your life your objective should be to remain on the path having the courage and putting your best foot forward.
You’ll need to getting moving right now as the best time to this was yesterday.
You have to have the courage not giving in when difficulties arise.
The world in spite of being imperfect like the people who live in, is full of opportunities for growth and achievement.
Now if you look at the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and try to put an answer to all the 4 questions you will find that he has an answer to all the questions as Batting only. Similarly If you look at the life of Late A.P.J. Abdul Kalam our beloved former President, The Missile Man and the People’s President he had found his purpose of life of making missiles.
When you are engrossed into some thing you enjoy the whole days may seem just like few minutes spent but vice versa happens when you do some thing which you donot enjoy and a few minutes may look as few hours or an endless day.
To enjoy a fulfilling and happy life we need to avoid doing things which give short term immediate pleasure like watching TV with a bucket of Pop Corn. Rather we need to engross in things which give us pleasure such that we flow with it.
Apart from knowing your destination, having the requisite knowledge and skills one thing which is key to leading a purposeful life is being free from Distractions .
Have you ever seen a Global Leader of repute checking his mobile habitually when in public except a few stray incidents where some leaders who were shown on the idiot box checking their mobiles when at a mourning ceremony of deceased soldiers in the full glare of national TV .
One of the key reasons Japan is such a successful country because one of the first thing a Japanese learns is ganbaru which would roughly mean “to stay firm by doing ones best”. Japanese people even do the most basic of the tasks with a dedication which borders obsession.
Wealth is not the parameter of success it is just a by-product which is yours once you achieve success.
Now look at it Sachin Tendulkar never did batting for earning money. Although I am not privy to the reason of choosing cricket but am sure that this choice answers all the four questions we raised in the beginning of the chapter for finding once purpose.

Adding he didn’t have any TV, AC, car, jewellery, shares, land or bank balance.
He had even donated the last 8 years’ pension towards the development of his village.
But he is even today alive in the hearts of 135 crore Indians . Did he live the purpose of his life did he find one.
So My dear friend irrespective of your age whether you are a teen of 17 years or an adult of 30, 40, 70 years it is never too late to find the purpose of your being here. If the almighty has given you a chance to have a trip to the planet earth make the best use of it. Remember when you were born you were crying and every one else around you were enjoying, lead a life in a manner such that when you are on your last journey every one around you is crying and you are enjoying because you have lived a life of fulfilment and with a purpose.
