After reading the title there may be a few doubts about whether success is a journey and so on. Yes, success is a journey. It would be best if you prepare yourself to move on the journey to success.
Similar to any other journey you also need to prepare yourself if you really desire to taste success.
THE STEPS OF THE JOURNEY.
Like any other usual journey for success also need to answer the two most important questions the first being where you want to go i.e. your destination and the second by when you want to reach your destination.
This is generally in the journey to success termed as the GOAL.
Goals can be of any kind they can be health-related, they can be relationship related, they can be related to your career, or to your Financial Independence.
For the purpose of this post, we will be discussing a financial goal.
THE GOAL
Let us assume that your current earnings are at amount X and you want to take them to 10X within the next 3 years. So your goal statement will read something very close to this. “By the 20th of January 2026, I want to have an Income of Rs. 10X”. The date is mentioned as so because your goal is to reach an income of 10x in the next three years.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I SET THE GOAL
When you set a goal and you write it down your brain and subconscious mind receive the instructions and become aware of your desire. Remember your childhood when our parents use to say learn your studies better you should write and learn? Your brain and your hands are very deeply synchronized. So when you write your Sub Conscious mind becomes active and starts working on it.
IS THE GOAL NOT VERY AMBITIOUS?
Yes, the goal is very ambitious. It ought to be like this. Read this post of mine and it would be helpful. Say you keep a too-small goal of say 2X earnings in three years’ time that would be a very small goal as even at a very average performance and work you can expect a 15% hike manually and you would reach 1.8X anyway.
WHAT IS THE PROBABILITY OF MY ACHIEVING THE GOAL
Well, I am sure you will be thinking that the probability is 1 in one thousand or so. Fine in the first place if the Late APJ Abdul Kalam thought like you India would have been deprived of the missiles it very proudly has.
Once you write your goals down on a sheet of paper and set your vision on it you improve your chances also manifold to reach very near to your goal.
Let’s assume with all your efforts you reach 7x income in three years instead of your goal of 10x. Your next reaction will be what’s the point of this exercise I knew I will not be able to reach 10x.
Well, Gentleman or Lady depending on the audience reading it I am of the view that 7X, or for that matter 5 X or 3X is better than 1.8X or 1.5X which you would have normally achieved.
You should read this CNBC article and find out about the distribution of wealth. Generally, most of the people in the middle to the lower part of the pyramid of wealth are of view that they are deprived. I harbor a different view . I am of the view that 95 or maybe 98% of the people at the bottom of the pyramid do not want to do what the top 5% of the people are willing to do.
CONCLUSION
Where you will be three years from now or 5 years from now or 10 years from now or even one year from now will be dependent on you totally. You can be at the bottom part of the pyramid or you can be somewhere in the middle of the pyramid and very rapidly moving upwards. The choice entirely rests on you. So Now is the best time to prepare yourself on the journey to success. Begin With Writing down your goal.
