Standing out in the marketplace is what will make you successful in your domain.
Most employable youths face a problem, they are not happy with the remuneration offered.
Blaming the employer is really the employer responsible.
If you go to the market where quite a few shopkeepers are selling apples. The shopkeeper cannot expect to get a price different from the other shopkeepers. If only two shopkeepers are selling KIWIS chances are both of them will get the price they want.
The same applies even to you when you are out to scout for a job change. Like the shopkeepers selling apples, if you are also infested with the herd mindset you will not be treated differently.
HOW TO BE DIFFERENT?
One of the easiest and best ways would be acquiring skills that are relatively less available. The skills you acquire have to be relevant to your field and also to the people you desire. If you are seeking employment you should know what skills are in demand and scarce in those segments. Acquire those skills so that you can be different and the skills you have make you indispensable.
If you are just like others and the skills you have are easily replaceable you should not be expecting to be showered by a fortune.
Reading relevant books can also make a very good impact. The books can be on the industry you are in or books on self-improvement. Two books I always recommend are “Think and Grow Rich” and “The Secret”.
DOES IT WORK?
Self-doubt and self-limiting thoughts are two of the reasons which hold you back from success.
You will be a part of those who have every reason for their failure except themselves.
In the early 1970s, Dhirubhai Ambani started Reliance after returning from overseas and withdrawing from a partnership. He had accumulated enough wealth to have a peaceful refrained life. He never confined himself to his comfort zone and stood out.
CONCLUSION
Acquiring new skills, and spending your time wisely will only help you in life. Failures or shortcomings blamed on others are not the solutions. Move away from blaming others, and be responsible for yourself. In a short period of time, you will be standing out. It would not happen overnight. Practicing on a regular basis will bear fruits.
