While Non of us are tuned to failure, at the same time we cannot deny the fact that failure is an integral component to the path of success. A properly planned journey also faces hiccups in between but if we fix the five causes of failures the possibility of failure diminishes.
Like in life we did not start running immediately after we were born, it will be similar in our journey to success. We will start crawling then upgrade ourselves from crawling to walking and finally we shall graduate to start running. Life is a series of wins and losses we will win some and lose some. With every new goal we set for ourselves there will be a new set of failures and we need to learn from them.
Beverly Sills once remarked, “You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don’t try.”
Moving forward the five causes of failures are
We all set a timeline for the accomplishment of our goal but is that realistic. The reason why I say this is supposing you are travelling from Howrah Station to New Delhi by Rajdhani Express and the time is taken normally is close to 17 hours. This is based on the calculation of the average speed of the train and no. of stoppages it has and the duration of the stoppages. But if you want to make this train reach in 10 hours the speed needs to be increased and with the current infrastructure in all likelihood, the mission will face failure as you have set an unrealistic time table.
Similarly if you set a time table to make your startup achieve an turnover of 1000 million in the first year of operation which may be too optimistic.
You need to set an achievable realistic time table for your goal. Skipping steps in the ladder is normally harmful and so it is in the ladder of success. You can only climb one step at a time and in normal circumstance the time taken to reach the top may be uncertain.
Your commitment to your goal is of utmost importance. You should bandish all the thoughts of quitting the goal without achieving it. Burn all the bridges which have the potential of deviating you from the objective of achieving the goal.
Your commitment to accomplish your goal should be as strong as that of Napoleon Bonaparte who in one of the wars had burnt all the ships in which they went to attack and then said to the soldiers of his army that the only way they could return back to their own country was by winning. It is for this reason that achievers do not have any plan “B” because they know that they will have only one plan and they will accomplish it. Your commitment should be strong like that of Napoleon The Great.
As the old saying goes you become like the people you are surrounded by. Always keep yourself at a safe distance from the likes of people who will find all the reasons to not do something. In all likelihood the people who have not done anything commendable in their lives are the one’s who give too much free negative advice and frustrate you. Keep yourself away from such people as they would suck your energy and enthusiasm out. So always in life prioritize that you are surrounded by people who are filled with positive energy and who can encourage and mentor you to accomplish your goal , in the event if you do not find such people it is better you stay alone but keep yourself away from negative bugs.
As the saying goes practice makes a man perfect, you need to keep yourself preparing for success every moment of your life till you accomplish your life. Sachin Tendulkar the master blaster used to practice for 12 hours a day. Similarly, any field if you want to succeed you need to train yourself sharpen your skills, sharpen the axe and keep moving forward. This does not mean that practising for 12 hours a day will make you a master blaster. You need to also correct your mistakes and be coachable. Because doing the same thing over and over again without making the necessary adjustments will make you unsuccessful. While a sportsperson will spend his time in training and practising to sharpen the skills in the professional field you will have to gather as much knowledge as possible to enhance your knowledge by reading books or listening to audios as the case may be. In short, success is not achieved at the speed of thought. Success requires training to succeed.
Are you willing to fail?
To be successful face the true failure is inevitable. The great cricketer Sourav Ganguly was dropped from the Indian cricket team after his dismal performance as the first instance. He Did not loose hopes and continued putting in more efforts to rediscover himself and went on to become one of the greatest captains to the Indian cricket team. Always remember the way you face your failures determines the course of your success. Remember it is your fear of failure which is one of the biggest bottlenecks to success. Remember when you were a toddler and were just learning to walk how many times you had fallen. It was your determination to walk that had made it possible along with your zero concern about the fear of failure as a toddler your mind was influenced by social reactions so you succeeded you need to have a similar attitude to life even know. Don’t be afraid to fail and you will surely be on the path to success.
Always remember that if you make it your business to learn from every failure and are open to making necessary adjustments after every temporary defeat no power on this earth can hold you back from your success to accomplish the goals on whose path you have set to travel.
